MEDICARE

Visit your GP to discuss a Mental Health Treatment Plan which helps covers the cost of up to 10 treatment sessions for individuals diagnosed with mental health condition.

You can also visit Medicare Mental Health for access to free resources and guidance on what services are available to you in your area.

Victims of Crime Counselling

The Victims Support Scheme offers up to 22 hours of counselling for victims of a violent crime, modern slavery or a road crime that happened in NSW. Violent crimes include family and domestic violence. For violent crimes, you may be eligible if you are a primary victim, secondary victim (for example a witness to a crime that has resulted in psychological harm to you), a family victim - homicide, or a related family member of a homicide victim, who is not a family victim. There is NO time limit on accessing services and there does not need to be a charge or a conviction for the victim to receive support.

NSW Health

The 1800 011 511 Mental Health Line is NSW Health's 24/7 statewide phone service which links people with NSW Health mental health services. It is a free service.

It is staffed by trained mental health professionals who:

  • offer mental health advice

  • complete a brief assessment

  • make recommendations for appropriate care, including referral to NSW Health mental health services.

The mental health professional will ask you questions to understand your needs and recommend appropriate services.
